Georgia “Zell” Rocha is a Chinese-Canadian music composer, violinist, and multidisciplinary artist who has been involved with the Vancouver Art Community for nearly a decade. Rocha currently resides at the Octopus Studios as one of the resident artists. In 2012, She attended two of Douglas College’s music programs, the Basic Musicianship and the University Transfer Music Diploma. Afterwards in 2015, she pursued Music composition through Vancouver Community College’s Bachelor’s Degree of Applied Music. She studied under Peter Hannan, a former VCC composition professor and John Kosrud, the music director of the Hard Rubber Orchestra. As a violinist, she has performed with the Surrey Youth Orchestra, New Westminster Symphony Orchestra and the West Coast Symphony Orchestra, as well as alternative rock bands. She specializes in music theory, music composition, piano, violin, viola, erhu and many other string instruments. She has written music for short films and theatre productions, including the Purgamentum in 2019 via the Blood N Guts horror filmmaking festival and United Player’s adaptation of Haven by Mishka Lavigne.
